A sick Liberal Party, and the people who protect it

Jeff Jedras has some words for me on the National Post:

The feigned moral outrage of people like Janke is hard to see as credible given that his party has spent the last three years and millions of dollars launching coordinated and considered vicious personal attacks against Stephane Dion and Michael Ignatieff. Mocked their speech, their spouses, their citizenship, their patriotism.

There was nothing feigned about it.  My anger had transformed into rage as Jedras spouted his insincere and evasive non-apology.

Here is the truth of it.  Let's briefly discuss the vicious personal attacks.  There is a video of Stephane Dion whining that it is unfair to criticize his failures because his job is so hard.

So we call him a whiner.

There is a video of Michael Ignatieff dictating to an American audience on what they ought to do, and denying his Canadian citizenship by calling himself an American, which he is not, one presumes to give himself added credibility with an American audience that he does not deserve.

So we call him a liar.

The whiner whines on video, and the liar lies on video.  The Conservatives call them out on this.

And for this Canadians are treated to an image of Stephen Harper being murdered.

Why would I need to feign my outrage?  I don't need to lie about that.  You want the truth?  There is a truth that Jedras and his ilk are simply ignoring, or hiding:

My views, in point form, on this issue are as follows:

* The photo was unacceptable, way beyond good taste, and should never have gone online.
* Clearly, the screening process failed and corrective action should (and has, I understand) been taken.
* It's important to remember this was user-generated content in a contest, and wasn't created y the party.
* The photo was taken down and an apology was made, that's the appropriate response.

There is no admission of the root cause of the problem.  The screening process failed because the screeners, the web page developers, the system administrators, and everyone else involved, simply did not see what was wrong with the image of Stephen Harper being murdered.

These people are thriving within the Liberal Party.  That is sick beyond words.

Everything Jedras says is just a smokescreen to avoid facing this truth.  Every last syllable.  Ignore it all.  It's just blather from an apologist who is in denial, or a fellow traveler actively protecting like-minded progressives.

This is really about a party so twisted at being denied power (and access to the money that in the past they've been able to take for themselves and for their friends), that for them there is no wrong that can be done if it means taking a step closer regaining that power (and access to that wealth).

There is no debating with people like this.  As I said on the radio, they will fake a civilized facade when the light is cast upon them.  But when they think no one is paying attention, they imagine a world where people like Stephen Harper are murdered.  People like Stephen Harper who dare call their leaders whiners when they whine on video, and liars when they lie on video.

People like me, perhaps.

I am outraged.  These sick and twisted people ought to be relegated to the fringes of the political world.  But as long as they are given a safe harbour within the Liberal Party, and as long as people like Jedras (either a blind fool or their front man) gives them cover by distracting everyone's attention from the real problem, then the risk will remain that one day these sick and twisted people will have access to real power (and the money they lust after).

That's why I tried to keep bringing the debate back to the core point.  The point is that there are people who just don't see what is wrong with murdering Conservatives working inside of Liberal Party headquarters.  Apparently one allowed himself to be spotted in the daylight, and he's been sacrificed.

He wasn't the only one.  Not by a long shot.  Jedras and others like him are happy to be ignorant of that fact, or know it to be true, and don't think it's a problem,

That makes me angry.  Very angry.

There is no feigning outrage here.

Interesting:  A Liberal [see Oops below] blogger who rips up Conservatives for being upset, but can't spare a few words to say the photo is actually wrong.  His silence on that point speaks volumes.  A living example of what I mean.  But please, continue to pretend his sort don't have jobs within the Liberal Party too.

Oops: Canadian Cynic is not a Liberal blogger.  For what it's worth, I'd be upset at being associated with the Liberal Party too.
