Ruby Dhalla news conference? [Confirmed]

From CityNews, a report stating the a news conference will be held today, with Ruby Dhalla appearing:

[Ruby Dhalla] has denied any wrongdoing but is so far unable to explain what may have happened.

But we may hear more from the woman at the centre of the story soon. There are reports Dhalla plans to address the situation at a press conference on Friday, although a specific time for her appearance has yet to be confirmed.

Anyone taking bets?

  • Extremely unlikely: Ruby Dhalla admits to it all, and more, and resigns immediately.
  • Very Unlikely: Ruby Dhalla admits to some involvement in the hiring process, but denies the bulk of the accusations.
  • Unlikely: Ruby Dhalla announces a lawsuit against The Toronto Star.
  • Likely: Ruby Dhalla repeats her denials, then takes questions from sympathizers in the audience.
  • Very Likely: Ruby Dhalla repeats her denials, then takes no questions and leaves.
  • Extremely Likely: There is no news conference.

Confirmed: The Toronto Star is confirming the Ruby Dhalla news conference:

Notice

For Immediate Release
May 8, 2008

Dr. Ruby Dhalla Member of Parliament for Brampton-Springdale will hold a press conference

Date: Friday, May 8, 2008
Time: 3:00 PM
Location: Office of Dr. Ruby Dhalla, 270 Orenda Road, Unit B, Brampton, Ontario

So my "extremely likely" prediction was way too cynical.  The address is that of her constituency office, by the way.  Not sure if there is any significance to that.  For people who just can't wait, there is this sign, for what it's worth.  No one has leaked "good news" to any of the Liblogs.  If the news conference was going to announce a stunning change in the complexion of the story ("Ruby Dhalla reveals evidence of a massive conspiracy!") then I'd have expected a couple of the Liberal bloggers to be given a heads up so they could build up some excitement and anticipation.  But there's nothing there...

New prediction: Ruby Dhalla announces her resignation as MP, effective immediately, so that she can focus on clearing her name.
