Hey, everyone's busy. Maintaining old websites is usually not a priority for most organizations, but then deleting a website entirely is usually a quick job. So why is it that the Liberal Party is still authorizing ThisIsDion.ca?
The site was an attempt to remake Stephane Dion's image in a man of the people. The videos are very conversational. The clips are short and easily digested.
And it's all out of date.
The footer still bears the authorization of the federal Liberal Party.
I doubt the Liberal Party officially endorses any statements by Dion in which he describes how he will change Canada's role in the world. That's Michael Ignatieff's job.
I doubt the Liberal Party officially endorses the Green Shift. Yet the links to the now defunct website remain. You can also watch that montage Green Shift video that ends with Stephane Dion's arm pump (marking the end of global warming, I guess) and the statement "The green shift is here".
Every video starts with a text overlay "This is Dion".
This is Dion? This was never Dion. Stephane Dion was a failure as the Liberal leader despite two years of trying to get it right. I'm surprised that the Liberal Party hasn't been more aggressive in eliminating these reminders. It's the sort of thing a new leader does to take control over a party and it's brand.
I guess Michael Ignatieff has been too busy with other things. Until he gets around to reminding someone to purge this site, Liberals will occasionally be subjected to this cringe-producing reminder of a two-year nightmare they'd rather forget.
