Angry in the Great White North

Connie Missipi is a Canadian citizen who seems to have recently returned from Hong Kong.  She is a published author (nothing you would have heard of, likely), and is convinced that Prime Minister Harper is part of a conspiracy to drive her mad with the use of Toronto's fire and ambulance services.

Huh?

Here's one of several videos she's made.  It's called "All About Stephen Harper":

Yeah, it's a video of emergency services responding to a call.

What does this have to do with Stephen Harper?  Apparently Stephen Harper is using Toronto's emergency services to intimidate her:

Folks, if you think the Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, has learned his lesson after the election, no he hasn't.

Last Friday night I played badminton in uptown, when a friend dropped me off at the Sheppard Subway station at 11pm, I couldn't believe what I'd seen as there was an ambulance parking on the side way quietly. Yet as soon as I stepped out, the ambulance turned on the sirens amusing me. Yes, that ambulance had been there waiting for me, a hostile gesture warning me someone was still in charge, as usual. Pretty scary right? Indeed. So who could that someone be? Wen Jiabao and Stephen Harper certainly, they're identical twins graduated with first class honor in Political Drama.

If we think before and after the federal election, Stephen Harper had coped with a lot of bad publicity for his own conspiracy being exposed, that'd have made him a good PM afterwards, we're all wrong. Public servants have become his tools for vengeance, what had gone worse, I heard sirens when I was in a church few weeks ago. This is way too far across the line!

I'm no ordinary citizen as I'm a victim suppose to be protected by the government. Stephen Harper may cut all the craps about witness protection scheme or intelligence service regarding national security, for I'd read and seen hundreds of the detective and spy stories in my life. I truly know how it works, and why it doesn't work. It doesn't work only because nobody has ever wanted it to work in the first or second place. If you think the PM has done no harm to me so far, you need to think again, he hasn't done anything against me simply because he knows journalists and photographers from all over the world, have stayed close enough to cover my tragic story if I'm hurt.

She has posted video after video of fire trucks and ambulances responding to calls.  It's not the only posting of multiple videos of emergency service vehicles linked to Stephen Harper.  This particular example is rather dark, with references to Missipi being secretly poisoned.

It's all part of the plan.  She also thinks the fire alarms in her building are part of the program to intimidate her:

False alarm went off for a minute, as soon as I was filming it'd stopped. Now you'd believe I've been under surveillance, told you so.

Sweetheart I think you'd need to come as soon as you can, before Wen Jiabao and Stephen Harper have gone completely crazy they may blow off the building. Miss you and love you, as always.

Wen Jiabao is the premier of China, and figures large in Missipi's plot.  Many of her posts reference a fiance.  It's not clear that he exists.

Blow off the building?  Does she mean blow up the bulding?

But the Stephen Harper is unhinged according to her, so anything is possible:

Stephen Harper is very persistent. So am I.

What's the point of doing all these harassment when enough is enough? Why humiliating the public servants as well as the nation being watched closely by the media all over the world?

No wonder he's been telling Canadians not to panic for the economic crisis, surely, when we do have something much serious to be worried about. It's called abuse of power, extremely dangerous while the Prime Minister seems to have lost his mind, completely.

She supports her assertions with more videos.of fire engines driving along the streets.  Of course.

In another post, Missipi imagines Ben and Rachel Harper, Stephen Harper's children, being driven to tears by a maniacal father.  They plead with their dad to stop tormenting Missipi:

Benjamin: But I went through the blogger's articles, she seemed very honest and trustworthy. I felt sorry for what'd happened to her and dad you're supposed to help her. Why would you turn a blind eye and even worse to set her up? I have a feeling that she'll become very famous one day by then your story will be spreading all over. Honestly, I don't want to be your son in that case! People will laugh at me!!

Rachel: Exactly dad. Two years later you'll be retired you may pretend nothing had ever happened but how about me? I'll be studying in high school and people will see me as a little monster because I'm your daughter! It's not fair!!

Stephen: How dare you're talking to me like that? Let me tell you I will destroy that woman whatever it takes! Yes I will continuously abuse my power to instruct more fire trucks and ambulances harassing her early in the morning, that she won't be able to film it then post it on youtube. WE'LL SEE.

It's really grotesque stuff.  It's not the only time Missipi has drawn Stephen Harper's family into this story.  In another post, she alleges that her computer and internet connection are being hacked or monitored, especially when she googles "stephen harper family" in her attempt to monitor the Harper family online:

I heard you. We'll be fine as long as we don't do stupid things? Who are we? You and I or you and your corrupted government? Why would I take your words when you've lost your credibility during the last eight months? How can WE trust you while you're constantly lying to your people? Aren't you not a doer but a talker?

We'll be fine only if you start doing your job properly, taking up your responsibility. Stay out of my life, stop harassing me wherever in the restaurants, hotels or the parks. Phone tapping in my house I've known it for long since day one. I've got nothing to hide, keep doing it because I'll go to youtube watching your videos whenever I like. Let yourself listen to your impressive speech if you don't feel shame at all. Hacking my computer by all means is not acceptable, but there's nothing I can do about it. So keep doing it because I'll google your family members whenever I like, so that you know not only you've watched over me, but I've watched over you as well.

So she's watching Stephen Harper's entire family?  She includes a video of her connection to the web going down as a result of her attempt to track the Harpers online:

Besides people in Harper's family, complete strangers are actors in her strange script.  In the incident with the fire alarm, Missipi subsequently recorded a visit by two people who were inspecting units in her apartment building, all but accusing them of harassing her.  In another example, she posts pictures of strangers on the street, and reveals that they are indeed government agents:

What are these stalkers look like to you? To me they look like some sort of secret service agents. Do you think the Prime Minister would set me up, for instance, accusing me as a spy from China or more specific from Beijing? It's not possible you think? Anything is possible because the Prime Minister wouldn't listen. All the public servants including fire fighters, paramedics and police officers, have been running awfully busy with their signature sirens these days.

Am I worried about my staying in Canada? How am I going to cope with this horrifying situation? Are you suggesting the Prime Minister will do some harmful acts to me in front of the world? Since I've come this far, what made you think I've been doing this all by myself? This is not a one man show my friends, it never was.

Is this all building up to something.  Probably not, but Missipi does mark the end of 2008 with a strange promise to her fiance (who may or may not exist):

The never ending drama performing in this building has been entertaining. That of course again is your father who stays behind the scene, at all times. But I'm in no mood to be entertained, 2008 will soon be over, I'm going to win this battle and start a new chapter with or without you. I will let go if I must.

What battle?  Who knows what she means specifically, but in the prior post, she makes one opinion clear concerning Stephen Harper:

Stephen Harper MUST BE and WILL BE removed. Period.

Weird stuff.  Is she being prophetic?  In another blog she runs, the text is in Chinese, but her tagline is in English:

Now I have come to explain to you what will happen to your people in the future, for the vision concerns a time yet to come.

DANIEL 10:14

The Book of Daniel is an Old Testament book of apocryphal visions, in the same vein of the better known Book of Revelation in the New Testament.  Missipi seems to think she knows what is going to happen.

But is she just a prophet, with knowledge of the future, or a martyr, who Is going to make it happen somehow?

It might all be an elaborate joke, either for her personal entertainment, or for that of some close circle of friends who are in on it.  It may only seem disturbing to people like me who aren't in on the gag.

Or it might be the plot for her next book.  I hope not, if only because it seems sort of boring, as fiction goes.

Or she might really believe all this.  Certainly I haven't spotted any disclaimers, and she has been adamant that Stephen Harper has to be removed from office in postings off her blog:

Paul Wilbee from Ottawa, Canada writes: The reason we need to recall Parliament early is that Mr. Harper proved with the prorogue that he does not believe in Parliamentary democracy. Consequently, he is a very dangerous man who must be removed from office immediately. You can bet that he is now using his time to craft more anti-democratic plans.

We have never had to deal with such a PM before. Canadians had better do the right thing before it's too late.

Connie Missipi from Toronto, Canada writes: Paul, I'm 100% agreed with you. Harper must be removed as quickly as possible to avoid further damages in Canada. Canadians have been suffered enough for having such a irresponsible and incompetent PM.

It's one weird blog, and the effort that has been invested in videos takes it a level above the normal Harper-is-a-dictator stuff.  Given that she has emailed to the Prime Minister with her allegations regarding Toronto's emergency services, I expect she's been quietly checked out by the people who are in charge of evaluating threats.

Harmless.  Probably.  But if she's serious about all this conspiracy stuff, she ought to get some help.
