Someone sent me these photos today:
Yes, that's Paul Martin's face on these election signs put out by Jim Karygiannis, Liberal MP for Scarborough-Agincourt.
Perhaps he wishes he could fight the 2006 election again. Perhaps he thinks the 2008 election is not going well for him. Perhaps the Liberal Party is so dirt poor that old signs, inappropriate as they might be, as being dusted off and called into service.
Perhaps he just doesn't want people to know he has anything to do with Stephane Dion.
Seriously, though, this is a major branding issue. The people running the campaign ought not to tolerate anything that undermines Stephane Dion, since he is in a very precarious position as leader of the Liberal Party. Any sign of potential disgruntlement in the ranks of the Liberal Party is magnified, feeding into the narrative that Stephane Dion is leader in name only, going through the motions for a party that is already preparing for his imminent departure.
I guess putting out election material from 2006 counts as one of those signs. Literally.
Update: Perhaps this is all part of some master plan.
