Carolyn Bennett to Canadians: Depend less on facts, and more on faith in David Suzuki

Despite Kim Campbell's assertion to the contrary, elections are an opportunity to discuss serious issues.

The is trying to sell Canadians on the idea of 's , a massive that is supposed to save the planet.  For Canadians still unsure, one might suggest that they look at their income and their promised tax cuts (which won't happen until Year 3 of the plan), and then consider what the inflationary effect of an widely applied energy tax and carbon tariff would be.

Some numbers we know, some are educated guesses, some are purely made up, but then rarely in life do we have perfect information.  In the absence of perfect information, there are two ways forward.

Calculate what you can, estimate what you have to, come to a imperfect conclusion and then make the best decision under the circumstances.

Or you drop to your knees, pray fervently, and hope for divine inspiration.

That second thing is not necessarily bad, because if you believe in God, and believe that He is all-knowing, then whatever He says has to be right.

But then that option is only open to those who have faith.

Faith in God, traditionally.

Or, as Liberal MP tells us, faith in :

Canadians may not understand the details of the Grits' Green Shift plan, but Bennett said they can have faith in the policy because it has received support from prominent Canadian environmentalist David Suzuki.

Wow.  Based on that argument, the Liberals could simply forgo all the charts and tables and online calculators, and just throw up a picture of David Suzuki cast as the Burning Bush, handing over the Tablets of the Green Commandments to Stephane Dion, who will lead us to the Promised Green Land.

But not Greenland.  That belongs to Denmark.

Presumably Stephane Dion would be buying carbon offsets to cover the carbon dioxide emissions of the Burning Bush, but that is a subtle matter for environmental theologians to ponder.

The rest of us can just vote for the Liberal Party and Stephane Dion's carbon tax.  Don't worry about the doubts, the concerns, the risks.  There aren't any.  We don't need answers to our questions, and Liberals don't need to keep trying to answer those questions.  We just need faith.  And David Suzuki.

With faith and David Suzuki, we can't possibly go wrong.

Heck, we don't even need elections

Big Picture Question: Carolyn Bennett said Canadians "can have faith in the policy because it has received support from prominent Canadian environmentalist David Suzuki." Does this mean the Liberals have given up on actually trying to explain the Green Shift, or is it just Carolyn Bennett who can't be bothered?
