David McGuinty is the environment critic for the Liberal Party. As such, he should know the difference between the Liberal Party's Green Shift (a massive carbon tax grab), and Jennifer Wright's Green Shift (a consultancy firm helping companies develop environmentally sensitive policies).
The problem is, he seems to have some trouble with the concept that one Green Shift is different from the other.
And we're not talking about an off the cuff comment to a reporter. This was in the House of Commons on June 19, when David McGuinty stood and told the Speaker that Canadians could find the Liberal plan for a massive carbon tax at Jennifer Wright's website:
Mr. David McGuinty (Ottawa South, Lib.):
Mr. Speaker, throughout question period, the Secretary of State for Multiculturalism referred to a document called the “Green Shift”. I would welcome him tabling the “Green Shift” in English and in French, as both copies are available for Canadians, or as an alternative, Canadians can also go to www.greenshift.ca.
We've already seen a Liberal Party candidate name Jennifer Wright's website as the source for information on the carbon tax plan.
We've already read Stephane Dion himself quoted at a media event naming Jennifer Wright's website as the source for information on the carbon tax plan.
And now we have Environment Critic David McGuinty unable to keep straight which website is which. Worse yet for the Liberals, David McGuinty messed up in the House of Commons, where there is little likelihood of a mistake in transcription.
Maybe Jennifer Wright can add these occurrences to her list when the courts consider the evidence that thanks to the lack of respect the Liberals have shown to Jennifer Wright's firm and brand, Canadians are likely to think that Jennifer Wright's company is some branch plant for Stephane Dion's tax squad.
Not just average Canadians, of course, but senior Liberals too.
