Garry Oledzki's cold send-off

Here is the statement from president regarding the resignation of Garry Oledzki as candidate for the riding of in :

Earlier today, I accepted the resignation of the Liberal candidate in Palliser, Mr. .

Mr. Oledzki is stepping down for personal and professional reasons. He believes that this course of action is in the best interest of the Party, and my fellow Liberals and I accept his decision.

In the weeks ahead, we will move toward selecting a new candidate in Palliser. The Liberal Party has the best leader, the best team, and the best plan for the future. We look forward to working with the residents of Palliser to help build a richer, fairer and greener Canada.

OK, now to the weird stuff:

  • The resignation was for personal and professional reasons.  But then why was it in the best interests of the Liberal Party and fellow Liberals that Oledzki resign?  Typically words to the effect of "in the best interest of the Party" means the person resigning has done something bad, and a distance is needed to prevent damage from spilling over to the organization.
  • No wish for best of luck for Oledzki in the new direction his life is taking?  No thanks for the work he has done?  No mention of how Oledzki is going to continue to work for the Liberals in Palliser in other ways?
  • No last words from Garry Oledzki?  Why isn't he quoted as saying that the Liberal Party has the best leader, the best team, and the best plan for the future?  Why does Doug Ferguson have to tack this on to the end of the press release?

Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but it sounds like either Garry Oledzki did something bad, or maybe his resignation was not a pleasant affair, and that Oledzki was unwilling to provide any soundbites or quotes in support of Stephane Dion and the Liberal Party.
