Liberal Party leader Stephane Dion thinks he can get environmentally active youth to vote for him.
Yeah, good luck with that.
It's not that I don't think Stephane Dion can present himself as appealing to eco-kids, but that these kids have high expectations.
Stephane Dion seems unwilling to be specific, though, that is worrying:
Continuing on his Alberta tour, the federal Liberal leader pitched his party's green plan to a group of green-minded youth.
Stephane Dion spoke to about 100 participants at the Canadian Youth Climate Coalition conference at the University of Alberta.
Greenpeace member Jessie Schwarz says it was good to hear Dion addressing the environment but she wanted to hear more about his plans for the oilsands.
You see, Jessie Schwarz and her friends have very particular expectations from Stephane Dion when it comes to the oilsands. They want Stephane Dion to shut the oilsands down...completely:

Position Title: Organizing Intern
Location: Edmonton, AB
Our grassroots program is dedicated to building the movement and consensus around stopping the Alberta tar sands.
Stopping the Alberta oilsands? These are the kids that Stephane Dion wants as allies? These people are not interested in better emission control or carbon taxes.
They want the oilsands shut down completely.
I can understand why Jessie Schwarz is suspicious. Does anyone believe that Stephane Dion would actually shutdown the oilsands to satisfy the Kyoto crowd?
That's nonsense...but...Stephane Dion did meet with these people, so I don't really know what Stephane Dion is playing at.
And Liberal MP Mark Holland did let slip that the Liberals would nationalize the oilsands in order to scale back development.
Stephane Dion meeting with Jessie Schwarz. If I worked on the oilsands, I'd be very nervous about what he told her in private about what the Liberals would actually do.
