A move to oust Stephane Dion?

Mike Duffy reported today that senior Liberals are actively working on a plan to ease (or force) Stephane Dion out as leader of the Liberal Party.

But who?  I think I know the answer.

Mike Duffy on Mike Duffy Live today:

"People at the very top level have serious deep doubts about this man [Stephane Dion] and they are now actively trying to work out a scenario that would convince him to resign."

Rumours.  Scurrilous rumours.  But then this is Mike Duffy.

Clearly the Liberals are not stupid, and they see the by-elections in Quebec and Ontario for what they were -- a stunning slapdown of .

In the September Quebec by-elections, not a single victory, and the loss of Outremont to the NDP.

Turning to the by-elections of last week, in the two Toronto ridings in which his former leadership rivals ran, strong and unambiguous Liberal victories.

But in the two ridings in which Stephane Dion had direct involvement either in managing the candidate or in actively supporting the candidate, we had a replay of the Quebec debacle.  In Saskatchewan, an easy victory for the Tories over Stephane Dion's hand-picked candidate.  In British Columbia, the Liberal candidate running on Stephane Dion's precious environmental platform enjoyed a highly publicized visit from the Liberal leader.  The result?  She still won, but only by accident.  The margin of victory collapsed from the 12,000 votes in the 2006 general election to a mere 150.

So is it no wonder than some in the Liberals are making a move against Stephane Dion?

So what do Liberals think about this?  Well, former Liberal riding president -- a senior Liberal I think it's fair to say -- James Curran is furious:

WTF?

I wanna know who these senior f*cking Liberals are. And, I wanna know now!!!

I think I know who these senior Liberals are, James.

All of them but you.
