Private Liberal grumbling on the web

Apparently, there is Liberal "private" and then there is Garth Turner "private".

Which is to say that what Liberals are saying privately are published on Garth Turner's blog.

So what are Liberals saying privately?

The wasn't the only victim of the Green advance. Indeed, Dion acknowledged that the Green Party "took a lot of our (Liberal) vote" in Quadra.

That admission left some Liberals privately questioning the wisdom of Dion's alliance with Green Leader Elizabeth May. The two leaders struck an entente last year in which each party agreed not to run a candidate against the other party's leader. But Dion himself welcomed the Green momentum as a sign that the environment is becoming a bigger issue with voters, even though it almost cost him Quadra.

So welcomed the success?  Well, he said so publicly.  Does he share the concerns his fellow are expressing privately, that maybe his Green allies are now a threat?

Garth Turner lets us in on the secret:

So, what of the by-election results? Well,

(c) The gloves are off between Stephane Dion and Elizabeth May. Seemed like a good idea at the time…

So no gloves, eh?  Does that mean Stephane Dion, , and the rest of the Liberal caucus will take turns libelously accusing of knowledge of criminal acts?  Will confidential Green Party personnel files find themselves in the possession of Liberal MP and get paraded around Ottawa in the rain after being thoroughly reviewed by Liberal staffers?  Or what about Green Party election spending?  Surely the Liberals can find examples of Green Party candidates taking money earmarked for advertising and using it for...wait for it...advertising!

Honestly, I don't think Elizabeth May has much to worry about the Liberals and their gloves.

But Liberals might want to consider whether they need to have their otherwise private grumbling blasted out on blogs, especially when it seems to be at odds with what Stephane Dion is publicly saying.
