Does everyone call him Iggy?

I've always avoided calling Deputy Liberal Party leader Michael Ignatieff "Iggy".  It seemed too familiar, and I wasn't even sure if Michael Ignatieff liked to be called "Iggy".

If he doesn't like it, then it would seem childishly provocative to use that nickname.

I then read a reference to Michael Ignatieff not liking to be called "Iggy".  Fine.  But then if that's the case, why does his website use "iggy" in the substructure?

Michael IgnatieffDeputy leader Michael Ignatieff is called "Iggy" in headlines and columns and blogs (but not on this blog).  It turns out that Michael Ignatieff doesn't like to be called "Iggy":

"I wish they wouldn't call me Iggy though."

Ignatieff said he hasn't been called Iggy since he was 16, "not to my face" at any rate.

So when I spotted the "Friends" login link crash on Ignatieff's website, I was surprised to see "iggy" used in the directory structure:

Source Error:

Line 107: StrEmail =
                  Request.QueryString("e")
Line 108: Else
Line 109: StrEmail =
                  Request.Cookies("mifriends")
                     ("email")
Line 110: End If
Line 111: End If

Source File: E:\Sites\localuser\iggy\friends\Login.aspx    Line: 109

Hey, thinks get broken and I'm sure the login function will be working in short order.  But I thought it was interesting to see that the folks who work on Michael Ignatieff's website call him "Iggy".

But do they call him "Iggy" to his face?
