It appears that Liberal Party leader Stephane Dion has taken this decision before a conclusion to the Elections Canada investigation of the Blair Wilson matter.
Perhaps Stephane Dion studied the evidence sent to Elections Canada and came to his own conclusion. You can see the evidence for yourself here on this blog:
This has yet to be reported in the main stream media, so take it with a grain of salt. But solid sources are telling me that someone close to Blair Wilson's former campaign manager John Moonen has revealed that Blair Wilson was informed of the decision by Stephane Dion in the last couple of hours.
When the allegations were first raised, Stephane Dion was "pleased" that Blair Wilson was working with Elections Canada to resolve the concerns:
Liberal Leader Stéphane Dion says he is "pleased" Mr. Wilson has called on Elections Canada to launch a formal review of the matter. Mr. Dion said the allegations against Mr. Wilson are "serious" and "raise questions that Mr. Wilson must address without delay."
If the reports are true, Stephane Dion is no longer pleased, and no longer interested in what Elections Canada has to say. It might be that Elections Canada has concluded an investigation and told the Liberal Party leadership, but that isn't what the sources are telling me.
Stay tuned for formal confirmation of this breaking news.
