John Mark Karr went into a police station in Birmingham, Alabama, and requested a background check:
John Mark Karr, a former Alabama resident who gained notoriety for falsely confessing to the murder of JonBenet Ramsey, has requested a criminal background check of himself as part of a job search in Georgia, police said.
Karr, 43, unexpectedly showed up at the Birmingham Police Department on Wednesday seeking the screening, said Chief A.C. Roper. Karr received a form confirming he had no convictions in the state.
It is not reported if John Mark Karr was looking for a particular job. Let's hope it's for something like a security guard. I say that because another sort of job that routinely requires a criminal background check is child care provider.
