So that history can record this day for the Liberal Party

A record for the sake of posterity, should anyone wonder which Liberals today followed Stephane Dion's lead and abstained when asked if they would challenge the Conservative vision for Canada.

On a page, then into Google, and so into history.

The web is an interesting thing. If you have a website with sufficient page rank and you make an effort to make it spider-friendly, everything you write gets tucked by Google and the other search engines into databases that never forget. It is an opportunity to make certain that certain names, words, and phrases are forever connected, brought back into focus should anyone search for those elements in the future.

So to commemorate today's Throne Speech victory, I'd like to make certain that history records (inasmuch as the search engines record history) the full list of Liberal Party members who decided that Canada was well served by the vision for Canada as set by the Conservative Party.

After all his bluster, Garth abstained?

Posted by: Paul M at October 24, 2007 10:35 PM

I am no google-ranking-ninja but I was under the impression that large amounts of the same content/wording was actually a negative to get your page ranked. If you are very keen on ensuring this page rank high you could probably investigate a bit more about duplicate wording/content and the google page ranking.

Garth toed the line just like everyone of those other liberal MP's who dont want an election. If the Canadian people didnt want an election and the liberals thought for one second they could win, we would be getting the lawn signs ready for the sign war.

They abstained because all the "balls" they claim to have are glass.

This vote is a true symbol of what they, Garth and everyone in that liberal caucus lead by Dion believe in.

NOTHING.

There is a saying that Dion, Garth and the rest of this bunch either don't know or have forgotten, and it is - "Actions speak louder than words." So now no matter what they say about the TS it is their abstentions today that really count.

You'd better believe I'm bringing this up when Mr. Raymond (jobs for Quebec at the expense over his home riding) Simard comes knocking on the door. I can't wait to see him squirm.

"Dupe content" is definitely a factor. Google reacts badly when it finds the same content on different pages. The same information on the same page is less of a factor. And then ranking means what it means. How does the page rank against other pages that list all these names and "abstain" and "Kyoto" and "Liberal Party" and so on? If there aren't any others, it ranks at the top. Throw in the Page Rank that tells Google that this is a trusted site, and the algorithm will adjust accordingly.

Posted by: Steve Janke at October 25, 2007 05:29 AM

Two names on that list should be given much more prominence.

Glen Pearson - He who in the past has made his name worthy of print by giving Steffi his intro at the leadership convention and secondly by inviting Elizabeth May to his church to give the Nazi sympathizer = climate change denier sermon.

Pablo Rodriguez - The MP that tabled the liberals "Kyoto compliance or else" private members bill.

It sucks to be them.

Posted by: gimbol at October 25, 2007 05:53 AM

Truthfully they should all be ashamed to show their faces. The Liberal party should be renamed to clearly emphasize what they really are the Farce Party.

Watching the likes of Soo Barnes, Kyoto Dion et al sit on their duffs rather than stand on their "principles" is about as anemic as it gets in politics. For the Liberals it's not about anything more than their own self interests. If they were riding high in the polls and loaded with cash we'd be having an election.

Ok, so the CPC gave you this info to attack and trash for them - $$$

The Throne Speech - ceremonial - not that important.

The Budget - confidence and extremely important the Harper and the bobbleheads abstained in 2005

DOUBLE STANDARD

Are you working on tomorrow's trash yet - do they pay you on time $$$$

"Vote Liberal - Your Silent Voice in Parliament"

Future election ad?

Posted by: aek at October 25, 2007 09:42 AM

aek, that's a fair one, there is no shortage of material on the Libs to whack them with.

They aren't silent though, they talk crazy talk, meaningless drivel and don't stand on their "convictions". Unprincipled, I think it's called.

Posted by: Libby at October 25, 2007 11:04 AM

To 'abstain' is to formally decline to vote either for or against a proposal or motion.

It's a twilight zone existence that puts the Liberals into political limbo.

Sam, (Son of Sam) - sorry everybody - he is not my son.
Why are you so angry? Did your Liberal MP not vote as you liked? Get a life, and how many ways does one have to tell you that $$$$ is not even passing hands on this blog. If you can do the same for the Liberal, NDP or Green Party and get paid for it, why don't you? You would probly starve to death with your negative attitude.

By the way the Liberal Party has changed its name to the RAG Party [Red (Liberal) And Green Party] And you are a member of the RAG Party, face it Kyoto is dead and you leader DeYawn did nothing to fight it - so much for his only platform to convince Canada voters to selrct him as PM.

If you would like to do something constructive - why not tell us of the Liberal policies and platform that they want to give us - sorry only policy is to have people like you complain when you do not get your way. $$$$ is not the issue on this particular blog - it is tellling like it is concerning the RAG Party.

Sam - not the Son of Sam above

never noticed Paul Martins name there. Dock his pay.

Paul doesn't work there any longer, just collects the MP's pay in the mail. I'm surprised Belinda was there. She hasn't worked as an MP for a very long time, since going to work full time for daddy. Aren't the people in their ridings angry? One would think so. L

Paul's name was there:

Paul Edgar Philippe Martin, a member of the Liberal Party of Canada in the 39th Parliament, abstained when the opportunity came to vote against the vision for Canada as set by the Conservative Party of Canada in a Throne Speech that included a declaration that Canada would not be meeting any of its commitments under the Kyoto Protocol.

Though I guess it doesn't really matter if you go if you aren't going to vote on anything. Might as well stay at home. So much for Dion's honest man of integrity image.

Yukon Gold, fellow Saint-Boniface constituency dweller. Ray has a lot more to answer for than his abstention on the TS. His votes on the anti-terrorism bill and the crime bill last session being top of mind right now.

I think in Shelley Glover the CPC may have a pretty marketable candidate in the next election whenever it comes, even for yellow dog Liberal riding Saint-Boniface.
