Royal rumbles in the House

Because sometimes the news seems so silly:

royal.jpg

An ugly brawl broke out today in the House of Commons, where a Liberal MP claims he was physically accosted and threatened by a Conservative who "flipped out."

Ottawa MP David McGuinty accused Tory MP Royal Galipeau of storming across the floor and unleashing a tirade of insults. He called the unruly conduct the worst he's seen in his three years on Parliament Hill.

"The member was clearly out of control, using unparliamentary language and in a threatening fashion grabbed my left shoulder and only left my side when several of my colleagues urged him to stop and to leave, but he would not," McGuinty said. "He was really completely out of control, raising his voice, flailing his arms, gesticulating in a threatening fashion and making wild accusations."

Royal Galipeau, 60 years old, is one scary-ass parliamentarian. Run, McGuinty! Run!

...when, or where does the word "WHIMP" come into play here?

psst...did ya like my parody ...wh wh wh?

WIMP

Royal apologised later. He did flip out.

Posted by: at May 16, 2007 11:01 PM

And they worry about violence in hockey influencing our kids. Actually, maybe that's what it was about. Mcguinty was going on and on and on about the Sens today, maybe Royal's a Habs fan.

Posted by: canadianna at May 16, 2007 11:15 PM

This is unfair!

CP and CTV both refer to Galipeau as "deputy speaker", which is incorrect.

No doubt parliamentary apologies will be demanded tomorrow.

Posted by: S Dion at May 16, 2007 11:16 PM

I wonder, oh how I wonder, what the Conservative reaction would have been if Dion had lost control, flipped out, stormed across the aisle and attacked Harper. Hmmmm.

Be honest with yourselves folks. This crossed the line. Even for a Conservative.

Mcguinty...

To Ted and the other liberals: if Dion jumped the dias and dashed across to be in the face of Harper, I hope that Harper would have knocked him down.

Posted by: Real Conservative at May 17, 2007 04:46 AM

McGuinty and Dion sure are in the right party (of wimps).

I think the Liberal Party of Canada has now officially changed its name to the "Mommy! Mommy!" Party of Canada. A bigger bunch of crybabies I have never seen in my life.

Sure, what Galipeau did was wrong. But McGuinty responded the way that Liberals respond to everything these days: "Mommy! Mommy! Waaaaaaaaaaaa"

These people have been outraged at the thought of being out of power since Day 1. This is just another episode in a sad version of reality TV.

If what Galipeau did was wrong, then why is the speaker investigating McGuinty for what he said to Galipeau?

1) McGuinty deserved it
2) All Royal did was poke him in the shoulder

Posted by: Cool Blue at May 17, 2007 06:07 AM

I've written to McGuilty to tell him, basically, to GET A LIFE!

This is happening in the schools too. Kid pokes teacher to get his/her attention. Teacher GENTLY pokes kid back asking, "Do you like it when I do this to you to get YOUR attention?"

Next thing you know, the teacher's being hauled into the principal's office 'cause the kid has said, "S/he PUSHED me." Great weeping and knashing of teeth as the principal grills the teacher, says the parents are very upset, gives the student's word equal weight with the teacher's who's a professional, for G*d's sake, and half the time the kid's a pathological liar, etc., etc.

David McGuilty is just one in a long string of lib/left/wimpy cry babies. I didn't think they came so old, though.

There is little doubt the children of the HOC smell summer vacation and are not interested in meaningful work.

McGuinty has a history of aggravating, when he succeeds and gets a reaction he runs to Mommy, in this case the surrogate Mommy, Mister Speaker with the old boo hoo, he attacked me!

We all recall his antics with McKay and the dog issue.
All in all, great waste of time and sure hope he's not returned next election.

Ha ha ha.
Nice morning smile you've given me with this story.

McGuinty is a true pantywaist. Both brothers are just embarrassing.

Posted by: Alan at May 17, 2007 08:05 AM

Of course it was wrong of Galipeau. But McGuinty playing the role of the terrified victim?

Like I said. Silly.

Posted by: Steve Janke at May 17, 2007 08:21 AM

Ted..one would expect that we would have seen a flailing of slaps from your Hero, lame and limp, as one would expect from a liberal.

Posted by: Kursk at May 17, 2007 08:59 AM

Something must have ticked MP Galipeau off to make him want to get into McCrybaby's face.
He's been around the HOC long enough to know a prick when he sees one.
Frankly I'm surprised McFool has any front teeth left.

I've become privy to the new official seal for the Liberals - check it out..

Next Christmas I'm writing to Santa Claus and asking for truth in reporting.

I'm not making a comment on what happened as being right or wrong. I am, however, making a comment on the media reporting that Royal "crossed the floor" or "crossed the aisle."

If you check out the seating chart for the HOC you'll see that Royal sits on the SAME SIDE of the House as the Grits and the Block.

http://www.parl.gc.ca/information/about/process/house/GeneralInformation/SeatingPlan.pdf

Royal is in seat 214 and McGutless is in 262.

"I am, however, making a comment on the media reporting that Royal "crossed the floor" or "crossed the aisle." "

Good for you, Reid, for striving for accuracy in reporting.
This is the way it was described in another reporter's blog:
"I was sitting in the press gallery in the House of Commons at Question Period, quietly minding my own business, when, lo and behold, I saw Conservative MP Royal Galipeau charge up out of his seat, dash across the floor, climb up into the Liberal backbenches, grab MP David McGuinty by the shoulder and vigorously wag his finger in front of McGuinty’s face."

Mind you, in fairness, MPs don't always sit in their assigned seats.
Unlike you, however, I will say McGuinty probably provoked Galipeau's reaction. Both should be fined for unseemly behaviour.

Reid, if you think that's bad, just look at the opening sentence in the article:
An ugly brawl broke out today in the House of Commons...
An ugly brawl ?
I've been to a few of them -mercifully few because they are indeed ugly. Perhaps if Mr Royal had been dragged out in handcuffs, screaming incoherently like a trapped animal while blood, tears and snot ran down his face, or if Mr McGuinty had been treated by paramedics while his shirt was drenched in blood, or if the whole house had erupted into violence and it spilled out onto the street, with people kicking, spitting, throwing chairs and bottles, being whacked with police batons and pepper-sprayed... the whole charming Kodak moment. Then it would be an ugly brawl.

Everything in the MSM now has to be reported breathlessly. It all has to be extreme.
An AK-47 rifle is now a "weapon of mass destruction", making a terrorism suspect listen to Celine Dion CD's is "torture" (OK...bad example :-), an old politician getting in the face of a gutless politician and poking him with his finger is "an ugly brawl".
Then they wonder why more and more people refuse to take what they (the MSM) say seriously ?

Frankly I think they could use a good dust-up in the HoC. It would probably do wonders for their manners.

"... Everything in the MSM now has to be reported breathlessly. It all has to be extreme. ... Frankly I think they could use a good dust-up in the HoC. It would probably do wonders for their manners."

Or maybe have MSM reporters write out sections of Roget's Thesaurus a hundred times ....

There is one little Asswipe who has been begging for a real rumble and his name is Denis Coderre, I'd love to sort him out, wouldn't take long.

The very idea of him suing Shane Doan for something he did not say and the flipping Weasel has no proof to back up his accusation.
Doan has proof Coderre has decimated his character and hope he sues his sorry ass and forces little Denis to apologize across the country, in all papers and all TV networks.

Posted by: Libby at May 17, 2007 06:29 PM

Denis(Al Sharpton)Coderre is a BIG loser. McGuinty, what can a say, but, he is the kind of person that even a parent is ashamed of. Can anyone imagine how bad of a thrashing the LIEberals would get if we had a honest MSM?

"There is one little Asswipe who has been begging for a real rumble and his name is Denis Coderre, I'd love to sort him out, wouldn't take long."

I'd like to help. He does come across like a mouthy little school boy who brought the teacher an apple every day.
Nothing against apples LOL.
Something is going to crack soon in LaLaLand.
This current session is the weirdest ever ... with the Liberals in denial, wounded and cornered.
Their ugliness on display for everyone to see.
Every issue is a big blurr. The Libs actually think they can manipulated the fog of truth to make every other alternative appear no different than they are. And the MSM ,bought and prepaid by the LPC , are the puppet trumpeters for the cause.
Wake up Canada

Royal Galipeau has apologized to David McGuinty. I suspect he would have done that without all of the hoo-haw from McGuilty.

The Liberals' modus operandi is to create as much chaos as possible in the HOC, to take the heat off their dismal record and their even more dismal antics, in order to make the CPC look petty.

The CPC have, so far, done a damned good job--taking monumental self-discipline--to ignore as much as possible the Liberals' appalling grandstanding gestures in the HOC. But with the MSM acting as LPC cheerleaders, it's hard to put a number of these issues behind them, because Delacourt, Travers, Weston, Martin, Duffy, and Newman, etc., etc., keep shoving the nonsense in their face and ours.

I see these kinds of diversionary tactics in the classroom all the time. Students who can't or won't do the work, rather than appear inadequate in front of their classmates, create as much chaos as they can, in order to put the heat on anyone but him/her. 'Just another instance of the infantile behaviour of the Libs who don't have
two proactive ideas or policies to put together.

One just hopes the Canadian public figures this out. The MSM smoke and mirrors to cover up the bankruptcy--in every area--of their favoured politicos isn't helping matters.

Wow. You Conservatives are like, so tough. I was just thinking that's exactly what a liberal democracy needs, more thuggery. Can I be cool, too? My jackboot size is 10, my brownshirt measures 44cm at the shoulder.

there are no thugs here but the odd Liberal wimps make an appearance sometimes. Very young ones like you !

We got a good example of biased, one sided TV journalism today on Question period starring, (I use the term loosely), Janey and Craig Oh.

They showed only the Conservative members with their reactions to the Liberals sneering questions, the likes of Coderre and Jennings et al remained anonymous, they did not show their faces in the clips. The reason being the Conservative gave them slap downs and were the winners. Too much for them to allow.

WORST OF ALL THEY USED THE CLIPS TO COMPLAIN ABOUT DECORUM IN THE HOUSE, TRYING TO PUT THE BLAME ON THE CONSERVATIVES!
