Here is the story of the origins of Mohammed and the Tali-band:
Working for the Taliban in Afghanistan for three years before the American occupation, Mohammed Durka was inspired to create a Muslim praise band. Having a hard time finding capable bandmates, Durka moved to the musical metropolis of the Middle East, Iran. There he teamed up with percussionist Sayeed Ali-Moti and organ virtuoso Mahmoud Staminejad to form Mohammed and the Tali-band. Together they set the Muslim world ablaze, figuratively speaking, since Muslims are "merciful to one another". Due to the lack of musically gifted Muslims, the hit single "Allah, Allah, Allah" was number one for 50 consecutive weeks on the Al Jazeera radio network in Doha, Qatar until Green Day's "American Idiot" premiered last spring. The track is a declaration of the fundamental tenets of Islam as Durka quotes verses straight from the Koran. Be on the lookout for more inspirational music from Mohammed and the Tali-band in the future.
Of course, as a mockery of Mohammed, Allah, and the Koran, no doubt MySpace will be threatened, following up with a very public withdrawal of the song.
So go listen to it while you can.
And don't worry, I've captured an MP3 of the song. Just in case.
