Leader

Stephen Harper has asked Jean Chretien to represent Canada at Boris Yeltsin's funeral. It's a good choice, because in many ways that are most important, Jean Chretien is a trustworthy man.

Main Story

Former prime minister Jean Chretien will represent Canada at Boris Yeltsin's funeral:

Former prime minister Jean Chretien, pictured, and Gerald Comeau, deputy leader of the government in the Senate, have been asked to represent Canada at the state funeral of the former Russian president Boris Yeltsin. The funeral will take place today at Christ the Saviour Cathedral in Moscow, at 2 p.m. local time.

Whatever else you might think of Jean Chretien, I'm certain he would never consider bad-mouthing Canada or Prime Minister Stephen Harper to all the foreign leaders in attendence.

Jean Chretien has too much class for that.

It's something someone ought to point out to Jack Layton.
