Angry in the Great White North

The first wave of feedback has been studied and many changes incorporated:

• The home page has been shrunk in size. The width is 800 pixels, which is the minimum size used by a sizable fraction of the readership. Note that the banner ads are not counted in the 800 pixel width. Nor do they appear under the header block. They run down the right rail from the top of the screen.
• The home page uses a three column fixed-width layout. I don't intend to implement variable-width columns. Again, the three columns do not include the advertising column since that column is only ads.
• The menu system has been shrunk in size somewhat.
• More of the links are working.
• The newsfeeds follow the theme selected.
• The post page now follows a more traditional blog format. The full article, followed by the comments, followed by the add comment form. All the scroll bars have been removed -- they were too difficult to navigate. Note that since this page runs long, the full list of the Blogging Tories appears. Again, the width of the main content spans just 800 pixels, with ads running along their own rail to the right of the content.
• More optimization of slices. More colour adjustments.

Problems remaining:

• The add comment form seems a bit messed up in Firefox. I'll be taking a look soon.
• Too much whitespace in the comments. Need to tighten that up.
• Opera is still broken.

Work to do:

• Implement the other secondary pages.
• Finish the menu system, including a persistent colour change for active pages as a navigation aid.
• Continue to adjust based on feedback.
