Who wants to buy some C-4 explosive online?

Why would someone from the UK be be looking for C‑4 explosive online?

Someone in the UK was googling "c4 plastic explosive for sale":

I'm not particularly worried. What self-respecting professional terrorist would use an AOL account to Google for C‑4? Of course, there are unprofessional terrorists with little self-respect.

Still, it is a bit worrying because I rank 49th for this search term. The searcher spent a moment on my web page ("The threat from nuclear terrorists" from a year ago) and moved on. Forty-nine websites and he still couldn't find what he was looking for. Was he looking to buy? In the 48 prior sites listed, none linked to companies that actually sold explosives. One, Secure Search, sold "simulants" for C‑4 to be used in the testing of the efficacy of security devices. Just about all the other matches were for news stories and articles in which C‑4 played a role.

No demolitions firm or chemical company has any paid ads associated with that search term either.

So no paid ads to check out, and all the organic hits are to sites which don't actually sell C‑4. None of those hits seemed to interest our Googler. He was looking for something...else. Having the patience to go to the 49th Google rank and beyond, this person was clearly motivated.

And in case it needs to be said, I don't sell C‑4 explosives through Angry in the Great White North, nor do I have any idea where you can get your hands on the stuff.

Maybe some curious person trying to find out if it is possible to do so? Say for an article on his blog. I know I do some very strange searches myself at times to find info for a post. But then that just does not have the appeal as what you are suggesting.

Probably some MI6 spook checking to see if Britain's total I-net civlian surviellence software was working.

Then the "sale" would be recorded on CCTV video and audio from one or more of the 4 million surveillance cameras in public places....with one camera for every 14 Brits public surveillance is not only part of the "new" UK "security culture", but entertainment as well as some cable feed companies patch CCTV street camera feed into their home channel package offerings.

Ya can have yer UK Sir Percy!...stick a fork in 'er she's done Nigel....choked to death on her own paranoid statism.
