Geosign's new Blogmaster

If I can indulge in a bit of personal news, I'd like to mention that I'll be starting a new job on Monday.

It is a departure for me, career-wise, and might be of interest to some of you.

My education and training has been as a computer engineering, but for the last half-dozen years I've been working as a project manager. I have recently accepted an invitation to join the team at Geosign of Guelph, Ontario.

As a project manager? Nope.

Engineer? Nope.

Programmer? Nope.

I'm going to be their Blogmaster!

Geosign has been very successful in the world of online publishing:

Geosign’s publishing division operates over 150 websites that provide consumers with information and access to products across 15 broad themes. Our websites offer information on everything from electronics, education, home and garden to travel, fitness and fashion. With more than 35 million visitors to our sites each month, we’re quickly becoming a global leader in online publishing.

To help engage their readership as contributers as well as consumers, blogs are appearing on many of their sites (among them, Gizmo Cafe, ThinkFashion, Diet Nation and Fitness Gear 101), and my role will be to contribute what I can from my experience as a blogger (as well as by developing many new skills through my new job) to make these new communities a success.

Intriguing, eh? By the way, Geosign is still looking for editors and web designers and link ninjas (easily the hands-down best job title I've seen in a while) for the publishing division, as well as positions with the Domains group and others. It's all on the Careers page.

Wish me luck! (And if you know anyone interested in leasing a four-bedroom detached home in Ajax in a two-year rent-to-own deal, let me know).

Congrats!

And good luck with the house. I've had my lakefront Ajax home up for sale for over a month with no offers that weren't completely laughable.

Allow me to add my congrats and best wishes on your new job, Steve.
I hope this doesn't mean the end of this site. I don't post here often, but I visit constantly.
I suspect Geosign has made a valuable acquisition.

Congratulations Steve,

I wish you all the success in the world. Like so many others, I hope this doesn't mean the end of Angry in the Great White North. I have become addicted to your site and pop in at least two or three (or more times a day). I thought that some day some firm would recognize your talent and Geosign must have. Good luck to you and your family, and don't forget there's always another election coming up.

Are you moving to Guelph? If so, feel free to contact me when you do - I'm just up the road.

Congrats Steve, glad to have you aboard.

I'm still a little confused about exactly what a blogmaster is? But all this web2.0 stuff is so new that there just aren't any rules. It appeals to the Libertarian in me.

I look forward to learning from you. It'll be nice to tip the scale a little more to right around here too. I look forward to pub night conversations and learning more about Canadian politics.

Congrats on your move to a company that can obviously spot talent.

Hope Angry continues though, there aren't enough snoops in the blogosphere!

Guelph is a nice place, hope your move goes smoothly.

Since I read your blog while at work, there's no reason you can't write your blog similarly. Nonetheless, congratulations. It sounds like a dream job. It's clear you'll excel.
It's only peripherally about Canada, but I'm looking forward to comments re the midterm results in the U. S. next week.

All my best, Steve.

Guelph? Guelph? Sounds better than Ralph or Barf, I guess.

Seriously though, I hope that you enjoy the work. We 65+ retirees need your taxes to pay for our lavish benefits from the government. When you are ready for the big time, move here to Aylmer.

Best of luck Steve! I was disappointed that the interview here at the Waterloo tech firm didn't bear fruit. But now you'll be close enough to come to my poker games. You're a bit of a celebrity in our group... We just might have to take it easy on you, at least the first time. Y'know, until we're no longer star-struck. lol...

Excellent, moving up and gaining ground in a specialized modern zone with much future.

Be sure to leave some printed sheets in the coffee room for casual reading.

Liberals only require exposure to some raw truths not found in the MSM to quietly slide rightward.

Example: Quds Day in Iran.

Congrats Steve. You'll do a great job.

Will it take away from your political blogging?

Posted by: TrustOnlyMulder at November 4, 2006 03:13 PM

Err, you didn't get that job as Chairman of the Federation of OSCCCCs?

Posted by: at November 4, 2006 03:37 PM

Steve: Congratulations! It sounds like a job tailor-made for you!! Good luck. I'm sure you'll be a great asset to Geosigns.

What does an editor do in the blogosphere? 'Same as an editor in print media, or do you have to be technologically savvy?

Like others posting here, I hope this new job doesn't mean no more AGWN. It's a great site, even though I have frustrations not being able to post far too often. Please don't abandon us!!

Buen viaje, amigo!

It's a trap Steve...It's a trap!!!!!

The Liberal "shadow-men" have been planning this for ages. Your exposure of Liberal rot and criminality has to be stopped....THEY WILL STOP AT NOTHING!!!!!

Geosigns may just be a front company designed especially to distract you from your Patriotic duty of informing Canadians. Be careful...be very carefull. If the Liberal Shadow-men saw fit to go through this much trouble to shut you up....you can be sure they will stop at nothing to prevent being exposed on the internet.

If it is a real job...then Congrats, and well done. I'm just saying......keep looking over your shoulder........

One day, when you're at the water cooler, you may spot your "boss" at his desk with his guard down. What will you do when you see that hidden picture of Pierre Trudeau? What will you do if you go on a company Golf trip....and the balls are signed by Chretien?

Tread lightly steve....they're everywhere, and they think you're the enemy.

(PS....for those NDP readers of this blog....it's a joke ok...just a joke....now go back and think of another swear word that rhymes with Bush, Oil, or Iraq)

Good on ya' Steve. Like many others I hope this isn't the end of Angry, I check it out regularly.

Best of luck.

Hey, Steve. How's the new job going?

Posted by: 'been around the block at November 8, 2006 06:58 PM

Hey Steve,

Welcome to Geosign. In a short time, you've already added to the knowledge base here.

I suspect that you'll have little to remain angry about soon anyway, as soon as we get a next election and crown Stephen Harper our new friendly dictator. ;)
