The Toronto Police Service is requesting the assistance of the public in identifying other potential victims of a west end contractor.

It is alleged that:

- a man was hired to perform a number of home renovations in the city's west end which allowed him access to the residence and, at times, without the victim being present,

- during the renovation work, a video recording device was concealed in the attic of the home with the intention of capturing images of the victim,

- when the home renovator failed to show up for work for a long period of time, the victim hired a new contractor who discovered the recording device.

What is not mentioned in the news release but is being revealed here for the first time is that the second contractor was indeed Mike Holmes.

Shocked at the discovery of the recording device, Milke "This whole thing has to come down" Holmes instructed the homeowners to leave immediately. Holmes then proceeded to do what he does best -- correct the miserable workmanship of second-rate contractors.

The cheesy pinhole camera was removed, proper bracing put in, along with electrical boxes required by code when electrical equipment is placed in the presence of insulation. A new camera assembly was installed, featuring the CTI CTD-3090SH Color Dome Security Camera. The dome camera is both a voyeur's dream-come-true and a stylish addition to any bedroom or boudoir.

"If you're going to do something, do it right the first time. It's true for contractors, and the same goes for perverts," said Mike as the project was taped for an upcoming episode of his TV series.

The homeowner was floored with the craftsmanship when she was brought in to see the completed work. "It goes so well with my furniture. Mike sure has an eye for style!" Her husband was also impressed, saying it was a "damn shame" that it had to go, and then proceeded to destroy the camera and a good part of the ceiling with a sledgehammer.

"No, not like that! Like this!" shouted Mike as he showed the husband the right way to trash a room.

OK, none of this actually happened. Well, the police report is real. Still, I wonder if Mike Holmes would have a few choice words to say about a badly installed surveillance camera that had nothing to do with invasion of privacy.
