Yasmin Ashareh: Police are still investigating?

If the police have who they believe to be Yasmin Ashareh's murderer under arrest, then why are they still canvasing the neighbourhood in which she lived?

From a reader who posted anonymously:

Thanks for the input, but intelligence units are still canvassing the area and asking residents if they knew anything or heard anything about this homicide case. Well, we are now in October .. so it is obvious this case is still a mystery. No one knows what actually happened and the reason!

Yasmin was murdered sometime in early July. Her body was found July 13. On July 28, Toronto police arrested William Imona-Russel, a Nigerian refugee who lived in the same rooming house, and charged him with the murder. Police have not revealed any details concerning the motive or the relationship between Imona-Russel and Yasmin. A publication ban has been slapped down on any evidence heard in court.

As far as I know, Imona-Russel is still in jail awaiting trial.

What I have heard, though, is that there was arguing between two men on the night of the murder, as well as sounds of furniture being moved. We also know that police had Imona-Russel under surveillance before arresting him. Are police looking for this other man? What role did he play in this? If more than one person was involved, what are the possible motives? If this was a love triangle tragedy, then I'd expect to find the body of one of the men as well. And is the fact that Yasmin Ashareh's father, Awad Ahmed Ashareh, is a conservative Islamic cleric and important political figure in war-torn Somalia at all a factor in this?

Has anyone involved in the investigation even asked that question?

I don't know for a fact that police "intelligence units" are still asking questions. All I have is this comment on the blog. Hopefully some reading this can provide some confirmation, and maybe some details about the kind of information being sought.

It does seem strange though. If police believed the killer was under arrest, the focus would be on the Crown attorney. Police would not be much involved at this point, at least not asking broad questions suggested by the comment.

I can't shake the feeling that there is a lot more to this case.

some thing is not right. In that area, no kids were around for halloween. That area seems to be dead, like a ghost town.
no one will ever know exactly what happened.
