Tasha Kheiriddin's awful arguments in favour of the long census

Tasha Kheriddin is living proof, from the point of view of those who like the mandatory long census form, that with friends like these, who needs enemies?

Elizabeth May: Delusional or Mendacious

Elizabeth May, leader of the Green Party, thinks her rivals want her to stay on as leader.  Well, they wouldn't be rivals, now would they?  If I thought I would make a better leader of the Green Party, then I would want to replace Elizabeth May, right now, so that I could make the Green Party better.

Wouldn't I?

Note to Michael Ignatieff: Denials have to make logical sense

Michael Ignatieff is, allegedly, a professor.  Doesn't that require the ability to think and then speak logically?

No public consultation is ever required on whether to respect privacy

The government never needs to justify not collecting information on its citizens.

The media constructs Michael Ignatieff, the Quitter

Has the media given up on Michael Ignatieff?

Numbers that jump out at you (that ought not to)

Hey, how can any conservative blogger go long without posting something that touches on race and is guaranteed to label him a racist?  Time for me to dive in on a number I saw this week that, in a politically correct world, should not seem as significant as it does.

Paul Gendreau and Electronic Anklets: Why the anger?

Corrections Canada ran a pilot program on the use of electronic anklets to monitor parolees.   Like all pilots, it was designed to establish feasibility of the idea.  It revealed serious problems that would need to be overcome, but the report also clearly noted that the pilot was too small to draw too many conclusions, and certainly was not suitable as a basis for policy decisions.

So why is Paul Gendreau so upset?  He's supposed to be a scientist.  He should know that an experiment doesn't fail if it reveals useful information.

Michael Ignatieff sets the tone: Stephen Harper is evil

Stephen Harper is the Devil.  The people around him are evil.  People who support him are evil.  I guess that makes me evil too.

Thankfully we have Michael Ignatieff to let us know this.

Why I require registration for comments

Since coming back from my break, I've flipped the switch that requires people who want to comment to register first.

There's a reason for that.

Hedy Fry should read the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations

Hedy Fry, Liberal MP, is all exercised over the fact that the Canadian embassy in Poland was...wait for it...flying the Canadian flag.

I swear, no one can make this stuff up.

Oh Hedy.  You are responsible for so much laughter in this world.

Liberal supporter Sneezy3: Why he ought to leave writing to others

I just have to respond to a comment left at the National Post.  Bad science and bad writing meet.  Yikes!

Liberals and NDP tied? The Terror in the Numbers

Another look at the EKOS polling numbers suggests that we're not going to be hearing much about Liberal-NDP coalitions or mergers for a bit.  Under the current circumstances, the idea is just too scary for Liberals to consider.

The Question: What Liberals need to be asking themselves

The latest polling numbers show the Liberals slipping under 25% support.  It's time to ask the question.

I tend to believe Jean-Daniel Lafond

Did Jean-Daniel Lafond embarrass his wife, Governor General Michaelle Jean, by requesting that the Queen and Prince Philip not stay in Rideau Hall during their visit to Ottawa?

He vehemently denies saying anything of the sort, and I tend to believe him.

Canada should snag NASA engineers

NASA continues to be driven into the ground under the crazed leadership of President Barack Obama, who has declared that NASA's job is to say nice things to Muslims.

Fine.  Our job here should be to roll out the welcome mat to disgruntled NASA engineers and managers.

Illinois: An example of a failed state?

If Illinois is a failed state, can it lose its statehood?

Michael Ignatieff sucks up to the ChiComs by asking for advice on how to win democratic elections

It's hard to characterize this as anything other than a pathetic attempt to suck up to the leadership of Communist China.

And yet it makes sense coming from Michael Ignatieff.  For all we know, he actually admires the way Chinese Communists run their non-elections, with top-down party control, and when necessary, brutal murderous violence.

Punjab is going to sue Canada: Thanks for the morning laugh

It's good to look over the news and then discover you are laughing out loud.  It's refreshing, and kicks the day off on the right foot.

In this case, the Punjab state government is going to sue Canada.  Yeah, good luck with that.

Is the International Resistance Initiative really a group?

The International Resistance Initiative has struck again, setting off a bomb at an army recruiting centre in Trois Rivieres, Quebec.

You might be forgiven for wondering why I said "again".  If this is the same IRI that set a car on fire, then it has been four years since their last attack.

Four years?  This makes me wonder if the IRI is really just one person.

Al Sharpton worries me more than Mel Gibson

Al Sharpton is after Mel Gibson after a tape was leaked on which Gibson is heard in a screaming rage, making racist comments.

Mel Gibson's comments were nasty, to be sure, but does anyone see the danger to all of us when no one stands up to people who see it as their job to punish someone for what he or she says in the privacy of his or her home?
