OK, that's just disgusting...I have a good sense of humour, but someone who wants to be PM doing that? What a loser. No class.

Not half the flack of Stockwell Day in a wet-suit huh? Personally, I felt that Mr Day's 'seadoo' was more offensive than the suit.
But his suit was a whole lot better than the (birthday) suits worn bu the two pasty white guys whose bodies looked like chunky cottage cheese in ziplock bags.
Guess that Rick will have to get that l'il ole anti-semite, Kount Iiggie, to wear a burka or sonthing similar.

Yep. That sums it up. Two assholes.
Posted by: Rattfuc at October 11, 2006 11:19 AM
Come on... that was funny. And I personally didn't find anything wrong with Stock Day's seadoo bit.
Wait... am I on the outside looking in?
Posted by: Surecure at October 11, 2006 11:35 AM
Yes, and is the media all over Bob like they were with Stockwell?
Just an example of double standard.
Posted by: Skipper at October 11, 2006 11:45 AM
did we all like rae's answer re: why he wanted to be PM? "To beat Harper". Wow. I just want to go out and vote for this idiot now. Forget about wanting to serve our country, help its people...all Rae wants to do is beat Harper. And if he did, then what? He did want he wanted to do.
Posted by: tori at October 11, 2006 12:32 PM
Bob Rae gets my respect for doing that for a joke.
"OK, that's just disgusting...I have a good sense of humour, but someone who wants to be PM doing that? What a loser. No class."
I call into question your sense of humour. You appear to lack one if you thought that joke was disgusting. What precisely is disgusting about two men jumping into a cold lake. Haven't you ever wanted to tell those two to go jump in a lake? That they would do it for you too, shows they have a lot of class.
Posted by: Saskboy at October 11, 2006 12:44 PM
Perhaps we need to take an alternative view to the cheeky move by our socialist critics.
Given the amount of flack that Mercer has received over his "One Tonne Challenge" bit and Rae's underwhelming (but understandable) reception by Ontario voters as a possible Liberal leadership contender, maybe the memorable moment they were looking to exercise is a united message to the Canadian public.
Just take a close look at these twin moons as they glance over thier shoulders, the eyes say it all.
"Hey Canada! Kiss our a$$!"
Posted by: Jan Schaafsma at October 11, 2006 12:46 PM
Nothing wrong with two men jumping into a lake. But if one of them, who happens to be attempting to become PM of this country does this NAKED for a laugh on TV, I think there is something wrong with this. He has no class.
Posted by: Soccermom at October 11, 2006 01:45 PM
Interesting how Rae thinks performing for the cameras like a trained dog is a good political move.
Using that standard as what makes a good PM, the liberals would be trying to recruit Enza supermodel.
Bob Rae, has no idea why he wants to be PM other than he hates conservatives.
Boy thats deep.

"Nothing wrong with two men jumping into a lake."
Precisely. Why did you say it was disgusting before?
"But if one of them, who happens to be attempting to become PM of this country does this NAKED for a laugh on TV, I think there is something wrong with this. He has no class."
Why is obscured nudity for a joke classless? He wasn't sending sexual text messages to teens. He wasn't throwing things at Pages, or insulting the homeless. This isn't the Bible Belt USA, this is Canada and we like our politicians to be humans. Humans skinny dip, so grow up and stop pretending politicians aren't human.
Posted by: Saskboy at October 11, 2006 02:04 PM
Oh Saskboy, go jump in a lake!
Posted by: Soccermom at October 11, 2006 02:15 PM
*splish splash*
Flying a kite too, just for you.
Posted by: Saskboy at October 11, 2006 02:24 PM
Saskboy...yes, we do like our politicians to be seen as human..which is why what the Leftist MSM did to Stockwell day ,and apparently not to Bob Rae is all the more reprehensible
Posted by: kursk at October 11, 2006 02:38 PM
Hey Boobrae take a hit for da big mon eh? Ya be rewarded we promise ya when da time comes.
Posted by: Real Conservative at October 11, 2006 02:54 PM
So, because we're still holding a grudge against the MSM for riding Stockwell, we're gonna sit and whine that Rae didn't get panned?
Must everything be a reaction to a past slight? Can we not allow ourselves the freedom to not be fully serious all the time? Bob Rae is a political opponent of most of us here, but he is also a hard working Canadian, and a leader in this country. It was probably not the best decision he ever made, he took a big risk doing that, and shows a sense of humour - the bit was funny.

did we all like rae's answer re: why he wanted to be PM? "To beat Harper". Wow.
Tori got it right on the money. The lad, ray-bob, has certainly articulated HIS very clear "ideological slant."
I for one, should be quite disappointed if this Rae position is not part of the next campaign slam-hit. Along with the Kount IIiiiggie "NEP/mistake" and "Grudge keeping Westerners."
As for the MSM doulbe standard, had Stockwell shown up in a rawhide jacket paddling his own (silent) canoe, I'd have been a bit more partial to the effort. . . . but wait - - isn't that canoe thing the copyrighted "chariot of the god" Peter Realcash?
yee and flippin' HAW!!!
Posted by: TangoJuliette at October 11, 2006 03:36 PM
Wow, a lot of deep analysis here. I wasn't even thinking of Stockwell Day's seadoo thing. I just put it up because I thought it was funny.
Posted by: Steve Janke at October 11, 2006 04:45 PM
Yup, definitely two bad asses.
Posted by: 'been around the block at October 11, 2006 05:23 PM
That was absolutely hilarious!
I still don't like Bob though.
Posted by: Trogdor at October 11, 2006 07:38 PM
Not a CBC fan but Mercer is growing on me. Don't think he was peddling for Bob Rae votes although might consider renaming show Desperate Politicians. All the power to Mercer if he can make Bob Rae the butt of a few jokes. Rae pretending to be common fishing folk won't wash...Rae said it himself, this prep school aristocrat wants to be king for the 'practical' reason of being king. Let us not forget the damage his highness did in Ontario...we're still paying for it.
Posted by: at October 11, 2006 07:50 PM
For a Mercer comedy skit this was actually funny for a change.
I don't really worry about the deeper political aspects as it concerns Bob Rae because the truth of the matter is that the chances of him becoming king are virtually zero. The Liberals are a members only club. Rae is an outsider and worse a pathalogical anachronism.
As for people comparing this skit to the Stockwell Day incident, give your head a shake. One was a shameless self-promotion, the other a comedy skit.
Posted by: missing link at October 12, 2006 01:24 AM
Rae shows all the dignity and gravity he will bring to the PMO.
Another commie public trough whore on the con...just like Mercer....I hope they're happy with each other.
Posted by: wlyonmackenzie at October 12, 2006 09:19 AM
One has to wonder what the dyed in the wool Liberal is thinking today. The 'Crown' prince can't open his mouth wide enough to change feet and the 'second in line' is busy running around 'buck naked' with a washed up comedian. These are the leadership candidates that would expose Canadian values to the world. One has to wonder where these 'leaders' have come from.

"As for people comparing this skit to the Stockwell Day incident, give your head a shake. One was a shameless self-promotion, the other a comedy skit."
actually the Day Ski-doo incident was Cheesy... the Skinny dipping Rae just too funny...
I'll hand it to Rae it takes balls to strip naked in front of a million viewers, and for everyone else... it's not Rae's balls, (or cheeks) that are in question when it comes to the PM's job... it's his competency... notice he didn't catch any fish...
Posted by: Sierra at October 12, 2006 10:52 AM
Okay there is nothing funny about a desperate politician showing his bare ass. That being said, since I'm stuck with Stock for my MP I'm really glad that he had his wetsuit on! Yuk! Don't these guys realize that we don't need to "see" everything!
Posted by: MaryM at October 12, 2006 11:07 AM
Guesting on Mercer's show means your the butt of the jokes, or what he passes for jokes.
Wonder if Bob Rae ever goes commando?
Posted by: Biddy at October 12, 2006 09:41 PM
Newfy Rick could work this into a screecher of a skitch, eh, byes? ...-
"Stéphane Dion - it has not been widely reported - holds dual Canadian and French citizenship."

So they went skinny-dipping and didn't catch any fish?
Perhaps the "bait" appeared too large. Fish are not likely to bite off more than they can handle, unlike politicians.
Guess if your starved for exposure it's one way to get it.

Unsolicited advice from the USA: awww...c'mon! lighten up, folks. don't take things so seriously. laugh a little. it doesn't hurt. honest.
Beware of self-righteous, constipated Conservatives! Just look at the awful mess they've made of things down here. Don't make the same mistake!
Posted by: snarfblatt at October 13, 2006 11:14 AM
The Indian PM I can guarantee you would be (almost?) history is he is filmed jumping into a lake naked.
The real question here is, would things have been different if the candidate was a *female*?
