Ralph Goodale: Tories are thieves and liars

From the Globe and Mail:

A number of Conservative ministers recorded zero hospitality in the three-month summer quarter, including Public Works Minister Michael Fortier, Loyola Hearn at Fisheries and House Leader Rob Nicholson.

When they sat in opposition, the Tories dined out on tales of then-immigration minister Joe Volpe’s $138 pizzas, and former Mint president David Dingwall’s $800 dinners for two.

The entire cabinet is, well, cheap. They simply do not spend much of the money taken in the way of taxes from hard working Canadian families. You know, the "working Canadians" that the Liberals and the NDP keep saying they are working so hard to protect from the clutches of the greedy Tories.

Well, amazingly, frugality is seen as a fault:

Ralph Goodale, the former Liberal finance minister who instituted the quarterly reporting requirement in 2004, said Monday he finds the latest posted results odd.

“I think there are some questions to be asked here about whether the reporting process is being followed exactly as it is intended to be followed, and whether the government is giving Canadians the whole story and the straight goods.”

Did Ralph Goodale just call the government a bunch of thieves and liars on the basis that they have not spent enough of our money?

You know, I would demand to see some evidence to support that claim. If Goodale called me a liar, suggested that I was somehow cooking the books, somehow hiding money from Canadians, somehow benefiting from tax dollars being misspent and going unreported, somehow...oh wait...never mind.

I suppose if anyone would be able to spot a gross violation of the public trust, it would be a Liberal. Here's an idea. Why don't you write to Ralph Goodale and let him know that he should use that keen sense of smell, the one that served him so well in December 2005, to prove that those Tories are up to something. I mean, how could anyone have access to so much money that isn't theirs, and not spend it.

It's unnatural! Trust Canada's natural governing party to know.
