A very unscientific way to determine the popularity of GreenStone Media, the all-woman media enterprise backed by Gloria Steinem and Jane Fonda. The answer: not very popular, it seems.

Main Story

GreenStone Media is the all-woman radio network backed by Gloria Steinem and Jane Fonda. The have a cool website:

Finally, there's talk radio with good news, smart and funny personalities, and important topics to help you balance your work, your family... your life.

Like all new media enterprises, GreenStone is embracing blogs. The link to the blogs right on the home page:

And from there we go to the blogging page, "Gloria Steinem and the Bloggers":

Gloria Steinem was recently interviewed in a phone conference by 10 women bloggers - they talked about the state of broadcasting, women and the conversation missing from the radio.

Gloria fielded questions from all facets of this blogging community and described GreenStone Media's groundbreaking approach toward giving women what they want to hear: Captivating personalities, entertaining and informative talk.

The first blogger listed is Catherine Connors, "Her Bad Mother".

So it occurs to me, just what is being the first listed blog on GreenStone Media worth, traffic-wise? I mean, all those women hungry for women-friendly media. Huge, right?

Not really.

Here's the list of hits right now:

Two hits from GreenStone on the first page: one at 8:04 and the other at 8:12. Hardly a barnburner.

What about the overall traffic?

Daily traffic:

Peaked at 33. And monthly?

An average of 385. Did GreenStone Media have any impact? Here's the traffic for the whole year:

Hard to say, really. There is upwards growth, but no real surge.

The blog itself looks fine. Lots of pictures. Content that would be interesting to plenty of people, I suppose. But no evidence that being tagged by Gloria Steinem and GreenStone Media has had any tremendous effect, certainly nothing like being tagged by Instapundit.

Makes me wonder just how many people (women or men) are visiting GreenStone Media. And if not that many people are hitting the website, it suggests not that many people (women or men) are listening to the radio programs.

Like I said, it's unscientific. But if GreenStone was catching fire, I'd expect GreenStone would be worth more traffic to their showcase blogs than I get from the Blogging Tories.
