Cindy Sheehan was getting it on!
Cindy Sheehan packed her bags and left Crawford ,Texas, Tuesday afternoon and arrived home in Berkeley, Ca. late Tuesday evening. Sheehan rushed back to do damage control after explosive information became public today about an alleged affair that began while she was still married to her husband Patrick, and after her son Casey Sheehan died in Sadr City, Iraq attempting to rescue members of his trapped squad.
Sources are telling authors Melanie Morgan and Catherine Moy, (American Mourning, Cumberland Press) that Sheehan is furious that the news of her affair has gone public. Sources have identified the boyfriend as former right-winger Lew Rockwell of the Ludwig Von Mises think tank located in Alabama, who is himself married.
Another married Catholic, no less. Apparently it was e-love:
Sources say that Sheehan met Lew Rockwell in an Internet chatroom, and exchanged 600 text mail messages before her husband learned of the affair through phone records.
Right, the phone records. All this time Cindy Sheehan has been spinning the lie that it was the stress of the crusade that destroyed the marriage.
No, it was infidelity. It was Patrick Sheehan learning that Cindy Sheehan abandoned not just him and their children to go on her quest, but she abaondoned her vows too. Who knows if she had any intention of returning home?
Indeed, it's starting to look like she left Patrick Sheehan and her kids. She had a fellow traveller who thought the way she did:
In common with the more unhinged elements of the far left, LewRockwell.com is committed to propagating the notion that the U.S. is in the grip of a fascist government. Again, Rockwell himself is among the more ardent spokesmen for that view. His political opponents, he insists, are "fascisti," while anyone with the temerity to voice support for American policies is dismissed as one of the "storm troopers of the regime." As for the 62 million Americans who voted to reelect George W. Bush, they are-you guessed it-the proponents of "red-state fascism." Lest such comments be dismissed as mere overheated sloganeering, Rockwell stresses that this "not just rhetoric." Rather, Rockwell urges his readers "to recognize that fascism is a reality, not just a smear term."
Not rhetoric? So Rockwell is not a victim of Godwin's Law run amuck.
Lee Rockwell and Cindy Sheehan pretended to have a professional relationship:Seen against this background, the latest addition to the Lewrockwell.com clan-grieving mother turned anti-war left standard bearer Cindy Sheehan-should not be shocking. In September, the site gave space to an angry rant by Sheehan, in which she delivered herself of the view that the "aggression on Iraq is illegal, immoral and appallingly unnecessary," and called on supporters to become "extremists." Come November, Sheehan will be a prominent speaker at a benefit conference for LewRockwell.com.
That was published in September 2005. The earliest Cindy Sheehan piece to appear on Rockwell's site is dated February 2005 (the document bears a copyright in the name of Lew Rockwell, so it would seem to be an original piece written for his site). That means they had to have been in contact earlier than that. But their affair started as an online relationship. Casey Sheehan was killed in April 2004, ten months earlier than the first documented contact between Cindy Sheehan and Lew Rockwell. Did the affair start during this time?
This revelation allows us to look back and laugh at things we wrote. For instance, Lifelike Pundits:
Who is Lew Rockwell? Before stumbling across this conference on the Internet, I'd never heard of him.
Gee, according to Rockwell, Hussein got a bad rap. Click here to read the whole interview.
So we really shouldn't be surprised that Rockwell and Sheehan have gotten together. Maybe we should wonder why it took so long. And for $200 plus travel, food and lodging expenses, you can get two for the price of one!
Or this comment at Mises Economic Blog (the Ludwig von Mises Institute being the institute Lew Rockewell founded), including the most unfortunate use of the word "hoe":
But someone mentioned Lew Rockwell. A terrible choice, I think. Yes, he's often an eloquent anti-statist, but like so many he loses his mind when it comes to Israel. I note that Rockwell's next hoe-down features Cindy Sheehan.
But the winner, hands down, is a comment left at small dead animals by the ubiquitous maz2, posted this past May:
Cindy Sheehan and Lew Rockwell have collided; the left moonbats and the right moonbats have fornicated...Right and Left are one and the same: socialism/fascism are Siamese twins; same body with two heads, yes, with two heads sharing one tongue: same message.
Oh for the love of...stop with the tongue/body/fornication imagery! Sheesh, it was creepy enough when it was a metaphor!
Back on August 12, 2005, I wrote:
I wonder what Patrick Sheehan would say, in light of the Cherie Quartarolo letter. Would he say that the problem [causing the breakdown of the Sheehan marriage] is Cindy's crusade and her new friends from the radical left? Was he no longer able or willing to pay the toll she was demanding of him?
If so, would Cindy Sheehan ever be able to admit that the fault over her marital problems is hers?
She had the audacity to say that she was grieving in a different way:
"He [Patrick Sheehan] agrees with the philosophy of what I'm doing," Ms. Sheehan said, "but not the intensity. He wanted me to pull back, but I couldn't. We grieved in two completely different ways."
Did he want her to pull back? No, he wanted her to stop sleeping with Lew Rockwell.
Now it makes sense. The harsh divorce papers filed by Patrick Sheehan apparently behind her back. Sure didn't seem very amicable at the time.
Now we know why.
As for the damage control? Maybe Cindy Sheehan is still figuring she could run for office. This sort of news can't help. Abandoning your family for your married lover? And then hiding your actions behind the death of your son? Only her most diehard fans will be able to stomach this.
Or maybe she just hates getting caught in a lie. This has got to be the biggest one yet!
I have to wonder if she'll say, "Casey would have wanted it this way." She uses that line to justify everything else she has done.
