Beating up children
Turns out two of three suspects wanted with regards to the desecration of the National War Memorial are juveniles:
Ottawa police say they've identified all three young men who urinated on the National War Memorial during Canada Day celebrations, after photographs of the incident sparked outrage across the country.
Two of the young men are from Ottawa.
"Both are juveniles so they're not releasing their names, and no word yet on whether there will be charges," CTV's Rosemary Thompson told Newsnet Wednesday.
Apparently that makes me someone who promotes the beating of children.
Seriously. Apparently I've am subject of a "gotcha".
That is to laugh.
A 17-year-old is technically a "young offender", not a child. And in any case, when my 5-year-old daughter saw pictures of what they had done, she was horrified. She knew it was wrong. Somehow I think I can hold a 17-year-old to a higher standard than a 5-year-old.
But to cut the desecrators some slack, my daughter had not purchased a fake ID and gotten smashed at a bar.
You know, the kinds of pranks "children" are likely to do.

Two being young offenders, hmmmm. If they are not charged, why should they be offered any protection of the Young Offenders Act.
Maybe, the police should not charge them, but publicize their names to let them explain away their actions to the public.

Under the YOA we should not even have noticed this. Except the reports I have read state the two were 18!!! As such they should be charged with drinking under age if nothing else. They are adults even under the YOA
Instead, to protect their 'self esteem' the MSM should be discussing who peed the furthest, what a lovely golden arch they made, they have a right to express their opinions(we don't but they do) and on and on.
This is not a childish prank--this is a glaring example of the complete contempt the 'young men' hold for anything other than their immediate comfort. If they feel like taking a leak that is more important than respecting this monument--and they have been told by educators that they are the most important thing in the world.
We reap what we sow.

Now we have identified the product of our education system... the new moochers. How should we punish them?
The war memorial represents those that gave their lives protecting this country. Many that served in the military and the merchant navy were kids the same age as these new moochers. In the service in which they died a form of punishment for inappropriate action was washing urinals with a tooth brush. A punishment that their peers could
witness and learn from.
It seems fitting, therefore, that the punishment for these punks should be for them to wash their urinal with a toothbrush as a form of restitution - for all of us to see and learn from.
Unfortunately for us, the justice system is controlled by the moochers and takers of our society. They will ensure that the "punishment" does not fit the crime and that the criminals can leave laughing. The public will never see justice done.
We deserve to see justice being done. Those who we revere via this monument deserve to see justice being done.

Prominent Liberal Party of Canada member Ashley MacIsaac, who intends to run for Parliament as a member of the Liberal Party, has commented that an aspect his sexual orientation involves males urinating on other males. Urinators may well have a constitutional right to express themselves, alone or together, without being subject to sexual discrimination after being ambushed by photographers. Urinating on the War Memorial may be perceived as offensive by some, but a case might be made in the Supreme Court of Canada that urination, like anal intercourse, is a natural act of love.

I'm only speculating on the id card. It may very well be that these guys were served without getting carded. Or that they were drinking beers they grabbed from dad's cache.
Or as McLelland would have us believe, they were tipsy on the sip of sacrificial wine they received during evening mass where they officiated as altar boys.

What's amazing is that they actually managed to ID these guys. I'm sure if you put their pictures up everywhere it wouldn't be hard to figure out, but as young offenders that has to stay under wraps, right?
On another note I am pretty sure worse things happen to the City Hall cenotaph here in Toronto. It would be nice if the local garrisons could send off a couple of volunteers for sentry duty, but that sort of military presence would probably generate a few dozen spittle-flecked screeds from Larry Zolf.

Speaking of McLelland, I notice that he's comparing the Muslim cartoon outrage to the War Memorial urinal fiasco and opining on the seeming inconsistency in "right whinger" logic. We're ok with the cartoons but not a bit of pee. Perhaps if he used a more correct analogy - i.e. Danish cartoonists unloading their Heinekins by peeing on or in a mosque then we would sympathize with their anger and indignation. So you see, it's not exactly the same thing Robert.
I try to follow his path of reasoning, but I just get, so, lost.....

The shame of it all is these punks are the same age as alot of the kids that memorial represents. You can enlist in the army at 17 and be sent off to some distant land to die,but if your 17 caught pissing on a war memorial you can't have your mug posted in the paper. Cane the bastards.

Teens who committ crimes do it becuause they KNOW they will get away with just a slap on the wrist. Get rid of the young offenders act and crimes WILL go down.
The charter of rights and freedoms is PATHETIC. It is what has totally screwed this country, giving endless rights to the criminals while taking away almost all the rights of the vicims. IT IS TIME TO ABOLISH THE CHARTER OF WRONGS AND DISCRIMINATION (rights and freedoms). Truedeau only brought it in so that his lawyer buddies would have endless work supporting criminals.

You could photoshop Trudeau "spit" or Chretien's "spit" face on that picture and it would perfectly illustrate Liberal treatment of our armed forces over the last twenty years. So we really shouldn't be surprised at these kids actions. I wonder what that boys parents and grandparents must be thinking.

Too many people are shameless. It is to laugh, yeah, but it's pitying laughter accompanied by head-shaking. That these people fancy themselves intelligent and morally superior is sad.
Oh well. At least the two teens have apologized, one of them seemingly sincerely. Story here
