Come up with your own childish nicknames

One of my Ottawa Operatives tells me there is a joke going around Ottawa about Stephen Harper's new nickname.
“They are calling him 'shrub',” says my contact. “A small Bush.”
Okay, okay....not exactly a screamer, but neat just the same, for the man who is busily trying to adapt the theory of the Imperial Presidency to the Presidential Prime Ministership.
Idiot.
"Shrub" has always refered to George W Bush, in reference to being the offspring of George H W Bush.
I always thought the issue with these people was that, under Stephen Harper, we were going to become too much like the United States. Well, they might be right, since clearly our left wing is recycling American political insults instead of coming up with their own.

Judging the left side of Canada by reading some rabble comments is like judging the right side by reading some western standard comments.
There are lot of ignorant, bigoted, and intolerant people out there, on the left as well as on the right.

Hey, johan, don't point that remark at me, it might go off.
That kind of moral equivalency argument is a comforting substitute for thought, but it doesn't wash. You can certainly find human failings among people on the right. Crikey, there are even rumours that I'm not perfect, thought of course I don't take them seriously. But hatred, dishonesty and plain lunacy of the most dangerous and appalling kind are the whole kit and tucker of the left. On the right, such things are shortcomings and are deplored and remedied. On the left, they're the whole show.
I guess you thought the US was just as bad as the USSR because they both had guns and stuff.
