Conservative Party leader Stephen Harper commenting on the Mike Klander affair:
"The Liberal party is coming into this election with a corruption report from a judge.
"I don't think it helps itself by running a campaign of personal attack and slur, which is what it has been doing - comparing political opponents to animals ... I think this has gotten a bit out of hand."
Klander had posted pictures of Chow and the dog on his Internet weblog -- or blog -- under the heading Separated At Birth.
The blog also contained an offensive reference to NDP Leader Jack Layton, who is married to Chow.
During a campaign stop Tuesday on Vancouver Island, Harper said he hadn't seen the blog but his wife filled him in.
Hold the phone! Does Laureen Harper read other blogs too?
Maybe this one?!
Crap, and I haven't neatened up or anything. My search button is still screwed up (uses the old colour scheme, but I can't figure out why), I still don't like the order of my side panels, and I really should try to find a better picture of Gordon Sinclair.
Don't you hate it when guests come over and you realize that you should have cleaned up an hour ago like you promised yourself? Now it's too late.

After reading Klander's Blog posts I got this deja vu feeling - like I had seen and heard and read that kind of vitriol before somewhere. Then, it dawned on me - the Liberal ad campaigns! The Liberal brochures; the Liberal talking points - similar in tone, sarcasm and disrespect for the person. If this guy was second in command in "vote rich" Ontario, delivered the Ontario vote for Paul Martin, etc. etc. who else here would suspect he had a big hand in writing the garbage they feed to the poor unsuspecting sucker voters; you know- the people Kl;ander refers to that politicians have to be nice to really stupid people. His type counts on people being too stupid to see past this garbage - I think Canadians are smarter than that and the big difference will be getting the message past the mainstream Liberal media on the internet and keeping them honest.
Anyone else think the Liberals may have just fired one of their trash mouthed campaign writer?

There's little doubt about it. It was only a few days ago, the Liberals were saying the ads had been prepared as talking points for the door to door campaign, and that they had been prepared by "a volunteer from Ontario". Anyone have the exact reference? I know one blogger posted it recently, but I can't put my hands on it just now.

Angry, I spilled some beer near the curtains and check under the sofa cushions for some popcorn I spilled after having the aforementioned beer.
Sorry. I shoulda known better and I woulda sent a post disaster clean up crew over but they have all been busy working for the Liberals this season.
I hope Laureen understands and please feel free to transfer some of the blame to me.

It's a fairly well known fact that Laureen Harper is a blog reader.

Well it wasn't well known to me! Why am I not getting these memos? My fault -- too much time on Sheehan, not enough cleaning behind the cushions.

Perhaps the time has come that the Liberals will finally self destruct.
Its about time.

Well if Mrs. Harper reads this,
PLEASE HIRE SOME REAL MARKETING PEOPLE!!!
Egad, your marketing team lost the last election and these "new" TV ads are lame.
Marketing 101 - Branding. Don't know the "new improved" ads are CPC till the end. Same with the old disgusting TV interview type ads with the logoless coffee cups (with handles facing the same way).
Who are these jokers passing themselves off as your marketing guru's? One thing you have to admit about the Liberals, they are slick, and slick sells.
Sheeple like shiny things.
Get some flare into your man. Stop starching his underwear.
cheers
Tom

So Martin thought he would drag out the campaign as long as possible hoping the Cons would run out of time and money and make stupid statements. I heard the Liberals are nearly $35M in the hole, begging for cash before New Years Eve, and they are shooting themselves in the foot every time they turn around. There is an old saying that if you give someone enough rope he will hang himself. Looks like Martin is getting the possee ready to hang himself. Happy New Year.
