Cindy Sheehan gives us a lecture on family values. But her family is suffering because Cindy Sheehan has, for some reason, neglected to have a headstone placed at Casey Sheehan's grave.
[Apparently, she can afford a brand new car.]
From Cindy Sheehan's October 10 piece, "I have arrived, I am home", posted at MichaelMoore.com:
On April 04, 2004, Cindy Sheehan died, but Cindy Sheehan was born. The dead Cindy Sheehan lived for her home and family. She kept a neat and tidy house, often cooked meals, did everyone's laundry, entertained friends, laughed more than she cried, worked at various jobs, and her family meant the entire world to her. She lived an insulated life filled with Thanksgivings and Christmases and Birthdays and other celebrations. The Cindy who was born on 04/04/04 still adores her family above all things but now knows that the human family is worth struggling for too.
Cindy Sheehan puts a great deal of emphasis on the date April 4, 2004.
Dates are important. They resonate in humans. We perceive time is such a special way, cursed with memory, marking our lives with numbers assigned to days and months and years. Some of the greatest monuments of the ancients were designed, in part or in whole, as calendars to help track the passage of time and to mark great events.
For example, Cindy Sheehan marks 04/04/04 as the date of her re-birth.
Now consider this.
First to Texas.

This is the "monument" to Casey made by Cindy Sheehan at Camp Casey. It consists of his army boots, a picture, and a hand-made cross.
It stood there for all to see. It became the centrepiece for Cindy Sheehan's grief, played out for the all the press to gawk at:

So for reborn Cindy Sheehan, there was a place to mourn, a marker to commemorate Casey.
Now to California.

This unmarked patch of grass is Casey Sheehan's grave where his mortal remains are buried. The picture was taken by Vacaville reporter Cat Moy, and sent to me to use as part of this piece.
There is no monument or marker for Casey. Even as Cindy Sheehan poses for the press in front of the boots and the cross with Casey's name and picture, the rest of his family is forced to gather around a bare patch of lawn. All around them the dead are commemorated in silent dignity, their names and dates immortalized in granite or marble. Those monuments serve to accentuate the bareness of Casey's resting place.
Why is there no marker? From a source close to the family:
Cindy has not taken the time to purchase a headstone for Casey. He remains in an unmarked grave 18 months after his death.
Why would Cindy Sheehan beg off completing this task? The monument can only be placed with her approval, but she hasn't found the time to do it, or even pay for it. This is causing pain and anguish for a family she claims to "adore above all things".
Perhaps if there were more cameras around. Or perhaps she realizes her grief plays better if there is no "competing" grave site. Or maybe...but speculating on her motivations is probably useless.
The final irony? Amidst the chaos that was Camp Casey, those boots were stolen:
Another thing that happened at Camp Casey I was that some "Patriot" stole the memorial. They took everything that honored our children. They stole Casey's boots. What will these people stop at? They are shameless and they have no sense of moral values.
So now Casey has no monument at all.
Perhaps Cindy Sheehan can be an example to the rest of us of "moral values" and take the time to approve and pay for Casey's headstone.

Gotta laugh at ol Momma Moonbat doing her little pose for the paparazzi in the second photo. Wonder how many takes she had to do to get just the right oh-so-painful expression for all the MSM to send out? And can't bother with a gravestone for her son....sad.

Dang Angry, I always thought anger, though at times a great motivator, was a negative, embittering thing to be avoided. You have shown me I was wrong. Your anger has lead to insight and enlightenment that you generously share. This humble American is grateful to have found your blog. My heart breaks for Casey's family.

"Cindy has not taken the time to purchase a headstone for Casey. He remains in an unmarked grave 18 months after his death."
Out of curiosity, where did you get this quote? Who was the "source close to the family"?

Who was the "source close to the family"?
It is not an anonymous source (I've been burned by those before), but one that prefers to remain unnamed.

I believe that Sheehan Family has the right to request a grave marker for their son. Too bad she hasn't had the time to fill out the form....

Cindy Sheehan is wack job, instead of quiet dignity and mourning the loss of her son she has become a poster child for left wing nuts!

To think I once felt sympathy for this woman.
I also once thought that, in her sadness, she was being used by the left. If that was ever the case -- and I don't doubt that it was -- it no longer is.
She is a sickening person.

The sainted Mother Sheehan is a card carrying member of the ME generation...and almost a textbook Von-Munchausen-by-proxy syndrome case...using the suffering and death of her son as leverage to fill her own emptiness, and trying to use sympathy from others to fill her lack of self esteem, self respect and self regard.
"See how wonderfully I (ME, all by MYSELF) mourn MY dead son...Aren't I the Greatest Thing?...and see how famous I am, I demand the President meet with ME again, and Senator John McCain has to listen to ME. Nobody can argue with ME because I lost MY son...and MY son's death makes ME an expert on war, diplomacy, foreign and domestic policy, the environment and the JOOOOOOOS."
At least we know this ME-ME-MEntal illness of Cindi's is not genetic...Casey was obviously not afflicted, God rest and bless his soul.

That woman needs a job!

When Mother Sheehan first started her circus, I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt because of the grief she must have been going through. But her antics quickly became apparent that she wanted the spotlight on herself, not her son Casey who was so proud to serve our country. I can well belive that she would not have the time to order a gravestone for her son.
The true story of Casey Sheehan has been lost in the media frenzy created by his mother.
She is a despicable creature.

Only 35 more and you get your 2000 dead.
What a bullshit war.
Worst. President. Ever.

You'll never be able to tear "sloopy liberal thinking" a new one with such "sloppy conervative thinking."

"but speculating on her motivations is probably useless"
It would be nice if you really thought that. Speculating on her motives makes up about 75 percent of your blog.
"It is not an anonymous source (I've been burned by those before), but one that prefers to remain unnamed."
You do realize what a ridiculous statement that is, I hope. So what your saying is that the source isn't anonymous because they do actually have a name, you're just not publishing it. Unlike all of those poor anonymous sources who have to go through life with no name at all.
And by the way, in response to another post on this blog, being critical of Israel is not anti-Semitic. Israel is a country, and it is perfectly legitimate to criticize it if you disgree with it's policies. What are the Israeli citizens who criticize their government, self-hating Jews?
