Cindy Sheehan: Losing fans

From the Unpaid Punditry Corps:

Two weeks ago, I made the case for the President in, “walking down the drive“, to meet with Cindy Sheehan. After watching her over the weekend, I realize I was sadly wrong in my assessment.

Late last night, via Tivo, I had the opportunity to see Cindy Sheehan interviewed on Real Time with Bill Maher. While there is no doubt that Bill Maher leans more hard left, he has also been willing to give credit where credit is due. With that, he is also willing to allow people to state their case, good, bad or indifferent.

[W]hile she was only interviewed for a matter of a few minutes, she scored no points with me on credibility. 15-20 days ago, Cindy professed camping in Crawford as a personal matter, not wanting spotlight nor media attention. She only wanted to speak with the President.

Now, on live TV, she makes the gutsy statement that she is happy that President Bush did not meet with her. That is self serving, hypocritical and playing both sides. She sees this as a positive and opportunity to take her “cause” to the people. Huh? Yes, you heard that correctly. She is an emboldened self proclaimed leader and catalyst of a new peace movement. One in which she proudly proclaims she will fight long after Iraq.

The tide has turned, she can no longer be seen as grieving mother, but must be seen as activist. And with that statement, as much as I have tried to understand and be open to her point, she has lost all credibility with me. I believed that early on the situation could have been avoided. Now, with the media onslaught, this has exploded to levels beyond imagination. Is this a new peace movement? Time will tell. As September heats up, Cindy Sheehan’s 15 minutes will likely fade.

Makes me wonder if for every hard-left moonbat she recruits, whether she looses five moderate main-stream centrists.
