Cindy Sheehan: Not looking good for 200,000 protesters

Cindy Sheehan of Gold Star Families for Peace is hoping to embarass President George W Bush by camping outside of his ranch until he either recalls all troops from Iraq (where her son, volunteering to go on a rescue mission, lost his life) or sends the twins to the battlefield.

Her supporters on the hard left are said to be streaming to Texas to turn this into a massive rally that will spell the end of this presidency.

Well, something is streaming, mostly water:

Don't know where else to put this so I just want everyone to know I just got an email from the Crawford peace house and the camp has flooded and the supplies are soaked, Cindy has been moved, she is sick with a sore throat and running a fever. Anyone who can help salvage the camp please go right away, they need all the help they can get. [corrected spacing and punctuation]

So where are the 200,000 protesters going to protest? Well, the 199,999 protesters:

I filled my boss in when I asked for PTO again today to head to Texas. He asked me what for, I said to support Cindy Sheehan the mom who wants questions answered from Bush.

He kinda went "WTF?" into his face and said where do you get this stuff? Then he did a search and is all on the know now, still won't give me PTO :( [icons replaced by text]

These are not news quotes, but posts at the Democratic Underground discussion board.

Well, if this doesn't go off as intended, at least they have excuses:

  • If only it hadn't rained, boy, I would have personally impeached Bush's ass!

  • We would have hundreds of thousands of people demanding Rumsfeld's arrest, but I couldn't get time off from my job at the vegetarian GLBT bowling alley.
Feel free to add your own ready-made excuses to the comments. Depending on how things pan out this week, we just might have the makings of a contest next week. A scavenger hunt where whoever finds the most matching excuses in real left-wing message boards wins our admiration.

Of course, 200,000 people might show up Friday and the President might be impeached over the weekend. Boy, would I feel silly if that happened.
